Eichheuser Quintett - Irgendwo Dazwischen (2023)

The musicians of the Eichheuser Quintet met during their studies at the Würzburg University of Music. Somewhere between studying, starting a career, staying abroad and whatever else is part of life as a jazz musician, they recorded eight of their own compositions in September 2022. The pieces, written by the band leader Carolin Heuser as well as by Kevin Pfister and Sabrina Damiani, have already inspired audiences at concerts such as those in Würzburg, Weimar and Regensburg. They move between the different currents of modern jazz and are characterized by picturesque melodies underlaid with colorful harmonies. Influences from classical music and music from other cultures set special accents.

The band is characterized by their lively interplay, which is particularly evident in the shared arc of tension in the solos. The most beautiful moments arise when the other musicians react to what is being played between the solo phrases. In this way, the “in between” becomes a new source of inspiration.
