This beautiful album is entirely devoted to music celebrating the Holy Virgin, with pieces spanning from the Renaissance to the late Baroque. The earliest one by Jacques Clément is an ethereal a cappella motet, whilst the other pieces include a light musical accompaniment provided by the continuo players of the English Chamber Orchestra. The high point of this album, Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater, comes in a brand-new audio cut.
