Printed by the Barnum for Art label, Risvegli is the new record chapter of Eugenia Canale, available on all streaming platforms from Friday 24 March 2023 and also in physical copy. The young and brilliant jazz pianist, composer and arranger, author of the project, is supported by three high-sounding names of the national jazz scene: Max De Aloe (harmonica, accordion in Luis and Chiquinha), Riccardo Fioravanti (double bass, bass in Risvegli and Sunday Steps ) and Marco Castiglioni (drums). The tracklist consists of nine original songs, children of the compositional fertility of Eugenia Canale, who also wrote the arrangements of all the compositions on the CD. Risvegli represents a bright summa based on warm Mediterranean nuances, Scandinavian winds and elements belonging to European music (of an academic matrix), therefore an album conceived in the sign of contemporary jazz. An album in which moments with a tendentially intimist and impressionistic mood alternate with other moments rich in communicative verve and intense expressive energy. All embellished by some particularly interesting metric modulations. Eugenia Canale describes her recording work thus: «The songs you will hear were born at different times, but are now found here, collected in a record that gives them back the light and colors with which I wanted them to be painted. The extraordinary musicians and friends who join me in this quartet have made something extremely rare and difficult happen: to make the music play sincerely, for what it is, without artifices of form or style. You will find many influences that have formed my musical sensibility over the years, from tango to choro, up to English area jazz. But I also hope many elements that it is hard to bring back to a precise cultural and musical context – rather something hybrid – like everything I have always preferred». As can be seen from the author's description of Awakenings, this is a record that deserves to be listened to live to embark on an imaginative musical journey with a high emotional rate. And the occasion, in conjunction with the official release of the CD, will present itself on Friday 24 March at 21:30 at the Bià Jazz (Cooperativa Rinascita Abbiatense) in Abbiategrasso (Via Novara, 2). A concert not to be missed especially for musical lovers with a sensitive soul, a live performance in which Max De Aloe on harmonica and accordion, Eugenia Canale on piano, Riccardo Fioravanti on double bass and bass and Marco Castiglioni on drums, will be able to involve the public with their fascinating communicative appeal.
