This new release from DUX presents works by Gary Guthman - jazzman, trumpet virtuoso and composer. Guthman's energetic, fresh and joyful compositions for trumpet are performed here by the composer himself, and he is joined by harpist Malgorzata Zalewska. The artists are accompanied by the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra under MaestroMiroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk. The harp is not often cast in a concert role, but Guthman's writing for the instrument highlights both its tonal and virtuosic capabilities. This is perfectly represented in Concerto romanticoandMargarita. Guthman's 2022Concerto, evokes sounds associated with jazz, combined with strongly syncopated rhythm, and extremely energetic dynamics. It is a joyful sound feast - surprising and revealing.
