Virginie Daide - Moods (2023) Hi Res

Virginie Daïdé had opened hostilities by releasing a first album, Dream, around the works of Antonio Carlos Jobim which she had arranged as a sextet and she returns, for our greatest pleasure, with an opus with multiple influences (from hard bop to modal harmonies). And it was in a quartet that she decided to come back to us. She is on the tenor saxophone and she is surrounded by Nicolas Dri on the piano, Thomas Posner on the double bass and Tony Rabeson on the drums. The 8 tracks are composed by the musician, except “Castle”, composed by the bassist, and “Paris Menthe” composed by the pianist.

Let Virginie speak: “I like to let the notes live. Share the melodies with the rhythm, the double bass. Let there be space. Music is my mirror of moods, a box in which to find past emotions and reconstruct those to come. It allows us to live yesterday, to imagine tomorrow, to travel while remaining motionless or to put our ideas in order because an agreement has brought about balance.

In this album the musician has sought and found this osmosis of styles and figures which, extracted from their bases, can perfectly dance together! A disc imbued with eras that overlap, and to listen to while abandoning everything that is around you! It will make you live yesterday, imagine tomorrow and travel while staying at home.
