Peter Weniger - The point of presence (2023)

Peter Weniger (born 1964 in Hamburg) is a German jazz saxophonist, composer and producer.

"Being part in the act of creation" - with this credo he is active in numerous musical projects of various genres with well-known artists nationally and internationally. High emotionality and brilliant virtuosity characterize his musical statement.

He focuses on rhythm, melody, harmony and sound in order to combine the new with the old and to explore new paths.

Peter Weniger is active both as a composer and bandleader and as a teacher/"jazz educator" at many workshops in Germany and abroad. Numerous prizes, awards and tours underscore his recognized musical integrity.

He has been a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts since October 1999 and teaches at the internationally renowned Jazz Institute in Berlin. Since 2005 he has been artistic director of the institute - with a one-year break.

Peter Weniger has recorded and/or toured with a wide range of artists and ensembles, including: David Friedman, Jasper van't Hof's "Pili Pili", Billy Cobham, Maceo Parker, Eddie Palmieri, Lionel Richie, Django Bates, Mike Stern, Leni Stern , Samuel Torres, Andreas Pillowbeck's Club Boogaloo, Peter Herbolzheimer's RC&B, and the ARD Big Bands from SWR, HR, NDR and WDR.
