Amy Blaschke - Newage Daydream (2021)

Amy Blaschke's 7th full-length album, Newage Daydream, feels both alive with the presence of live performances as well as cinematically surreal-noir. Think Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell’s song-child serenading you within the glow of Blade Runner. Amy Blaschke writes in poems and confessional impressions, and with Joshua Grange's production, the album coheres vintage and futuristic sound palettes, moving from simple to raw to transcendent with ethereal and psychedelic effect. The title is a nod to Bowie's Moonage Daydream, while Blaschke wields the word "Newage" to provoke the listener into nebulous emotional and transformational spaces.

Recorded at Resistor Studio in Nashville, TN, throughout 2018 and 2019, Newage Daydream was produced, engineered, mixed and arranged by Joshua Grange. The album finds Blaschke and Grange collaborating for the second time after an incredible synergy working together on Desert Varnish in Los Angeles, Blaschke's 4th full-length album, released in 2013.

In addition to performances by Blaschke (guitar and vocals) and Grange (Mellotron, various synths, Omnichord, and background vocals), Newage Daydream was tracked live with Will Honaker on bass and Ross McReynolds on drums and percussion. Fred Eltringham appears on Circle with drums and percussion, and Daniel Clarke added various synthesizers post-production. Newage Daydream was mastered by Josh Kessler.
