After releasing three albums – “Matéria” (2014), awarded the Carlos Paredes Prize in 2015, “Lisboa” (2016), nominated for the category of Best Album of 2016 by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores and “Aqui e Ali” ( 2020), with one of the songs “Ai mas ai de mim” (Tiago Torres da Silva/José Peixoto) performed by Cristina Branco being awarded a prize by the IPMA (International Portuguese Music Awards) in the category “Best fado performance”, the group closes a fruitful cycle.
In the restless continuation of the exploration of a language that was defining and taking root, now with a renewed formation, LST – Lisboa String Trio prepared a new repertoire and a new album for 2023, “Concrete Songs and Other Stories”.
21Two musicians remain from the previous line-up, José Peixoto (guitar) and Carlos Barretto (double bass). And to these join the Catalan musician Marc Planells (lutes, sitar and percussion) and, as a guest, Sofia Vitória (voice), following gratifying previous collaborations with other voices (Cristina Branco, Maria Berasarte and Ricardo Ribeiro).
The group's sound takes on new shades, explores new directions, maintains its "cultural location" and, without losing sight of the instrumental matrix that characterizes its music, in addition to the songs, relies on Sofia Vitória's ability to use her voice as a if it were an instrument, thanks to his jazz background.
