The latest reproduction of Konwitschny & Czech Philharmonic, the supreme "Great", which is almost comparable to the historical masterpiece. The soft tone and warm performance with an emphasis on natural sound have been revived with high sound quality. A superb recording by Supraphon that captures the golden age of the Czech Philharmonic. Also coupled with two Wagner songs recorded in 1960. For this reprint, a completely new mastering of a new direct DSD sound source from the original analog master tape of the home country. The best sound quality is reproduced with SACD. It is a permanent storage board.

"Great" was recorded in April 1962, and the Czech Philharmonic had just finished its first recording with Barbirolli just last month. Konwitschny has a natural tempo, and there is a feeling that the flow is left to the orchestra in particular, which suggests that both parties understood each other well. The Czech Philharmonic during this period of Ancerl's reign was so fulfilling that it could be called the second heyday, and the uniform quality of stringed instruments and the wind instruments that preserved the tone of the instruments of that time are also very attractive. In addition, all three works of this series were recorded in 1960 and 1987, but the recording of this "Great" was the best. For some reason, the quality of supraphon recordings at Rudolfinum varies widely, and there are many extremely different recordings. Perhaps the storage status and the number of playbacks of the master tape also have an effect, but it can be said that this recording is in color and is at the top of the list. Supraphon keeps the sound of that time as a recording without leaking it. This is a famous recording that can be said to be a feature of Supraphon.

For the coupling, 2 songs were selected from the album of 4 songs of Wagner's orchestra recorded in 1960 (the remaining 2 songs are recorded in TWSA1063 released at the same time). Although the recording conditions are different, Konwitschny's prestigious expression is impressive, with a superb performance of high quality that is still in use today. The Czech Philharmonic here, which has the same quality as the tone of Southern Germany, is also a wonderful word.
