The Deadnotes - Courage (2020)

Bad news for all Millenials: teenage angst is over! There's no way around it. We can't afford to be cuckoo anymore and we also have to put our private problems into a global context. The Deadnotes know this and release "Hopeless Romantic", their first openly political song, announcing their second album "Courage"

"In times like these, it's more important than ever to make yourself straight, to show courage and to encourage others," says Darius Lohmüller, singer and guitarist of the trio, which formed in Freiburg in 2011

Often his band was already sorted into the drawer "Emo". A genre that lyrically struggles almost exclusively with the inner self, own fears and general world-weariness. But that's just not enough anymore: "The world and the political landscape can be so incredibly sobering and devastating. That's precisely why it's important now to turn all that anger and frustration into action that makes life better for all of us."

But The Deadnotes don't make dull, unreflective do-gooder rock. The thoughts and arguments of Darius, drummer Yannic and bassist Jakob on the subject matter are deep. "Hopeless Romantic" is a song for the here and now, a beacon for goodness and the courage to reach out to one another.
