Before Entanglement Aftermath is the second solo album by Mateusz Lubiewski, hidden behind the alias Fetlar - a musician who has been growing up on the ground of the Bydgoszcz experimental scene. As in the case of the debut Inner Forensics (Opus Elefantum 2022), the material was significantly inspired by the art of new media and generative music, but this time the fluctuating and fluid compositions were essentially poured into more compact forms.
Musically, we are dealing with a cross between glitch, IDM and illustrative music with noticeable avant-pop influences. In addition to similar cultural inspirations, the second part of the dilogy uses similar sound sources: synthetic electronics have been encapsulated with samples from the Polish Radio Experimental Studio with small accents of live instruments. Despite the fascination with generative music and machine learning, there is almost no randomness or arbitrariness on the album. Lubiewski avoids improvisation in favor of a deliberate collage of smaller elements into larger structures.
The album can be purchased in a unique form of a plant seedling in a pot or a t-shirt with a code for Bandcamp. The only standard means of distribution will be a limited number of cassette tapes.
