Echoes of bygone times pervade the seventeen tracks in this dreamy and mystically-tinged collection, which brings together three masters of Italian library music: Giuliano Sorgini, Fabio Borgazzi and Bruno Battisti D'Amario. Combining Mediterranean atmospheres soaked in Fado and Flamenco ("Studio Concerto"; "Maddalena") with classical guitars reminiscent of Andrés Segovia ("Ricercare"), lovely pastoral scenes ("Pastoral Theme"), chamber-like themes ("Elegance"; "Nostalgie") and solemn sounds that speak of ancient imperial glories ("Vestal at Night"), Ancient Chords is a deeply evocative album that transports us to a different dimension, one distant in time and space from our own, where 'ancient chords' played on harpsichords, guitars and flutes take the listener back to realms once known but now too long forgotten.
