Deniz Mahir Kartal - Kafanar (2021) [Hi-Res]

KafaNar is a solo project by Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist Deniz Mahir Kartal, which fuses little-known instruments such as Kaval, Duduk and Çağlama with electronic sounds. Its essence stems from Anatolian music and rhythms that Deniz has been playing for many years. KafaNar compares the memories we accumulate throughout life to pomegranate seeds. Elements of almost every musical genre that Deniz has performed throughout his musical life, come into being and become one with the combination of these grains. The project merges improvisations, repetitive electronic rhythms and instant loop recordings and aims to make the listeners travel to their own memories. For this reason, imagination, memory and body move together during the performance and form KafaNar.
