Rino Arbore Quartet - Sweet Wind (2011)

A forge of talents, a storehouse of architectural and landscape beauties, Puglia. Guitarist Rino Arbore, the son of those lands, recorded in 2009 nine original compositions that make up the tracks of this "Sweet Wind". The sweet wind that characterizes his music, devoid of audacity or experimentation, but not even smoothed out by the bebop revival. The search for a Mediterranean and intimate path permeates the tracks of the disc, where meditative pieces such as A New Spring, Blues 9 and the one that gave the album its name alternate with others with a strong and nervous rhythmic charge (Light On The Bridge, Snowy Silence). A good balance and a good understanding between the four, with the right space given to Nicolaisen's trumpet and flugelhorn, lyrical and effective, while the leader has no tendency to overdo it and always works with caution, staying in the background, cutting out places sober and never invasive, making the best use of Pace's double bass and Liberty drums, perfectly calibrated for the project.
