Ansermet performed in Japan with the Orchester de la Suisse Romande exactly 50 years ago, and died seven months later. This "Phoenix" was recorded just three months before his death. There are several recordings with the Swiss Romande Orchestra, including the suite, and among them the 1955 edition is the world's first recording of all songs, a famous album. ・It seems that he tried to leave a new stereo decision board by using the Philharmonia tube. In terms of recording, Decca has reached the peak of stereo recording, and it is a time when many excellent recording boards were produced. The performance was not designed with emphasis on functionality, but with a calm tempo and careful attention to detail. The affectionate performance of "Phoenix" is rather valuable, and I am convinced that this album is a historical recording. In addition to the original wonderful recording, the latest DSD conversion in 2018 has made it possible to get the feeling of listening to this performance more closely. Rather than the tendency to be favored from a high-fidelity point of view, I think that the reissue has a more pronounced sense of temperature and emotion in the music.
