Johhny Cash - Simply The Best (2006)

For those interested only in Johnny Cash's biggest hits, this set issued by his longtime Columbia label is hard to argue with. The package is basically handsome, and the 14 tracks contain every single major hit Cash enjoyed for Columbia during the 1960s. Unlike many other Cash comps, this one is pure gold because it features all original versions of these tunes, and none of the many re-recorded ones he did later. From "Ring of Fire," and "Hey Porter" to "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "A Boy Named Sue," they are all here. The only cuts missing are some of his Sun hits (readily available elsewhere) and his later marginal ones for American. Given the price, sound, and package, this is hard to beat.
