The Gisela Horat Trio has been in existence since spring 2009. Since May 2015, drummer Samuel Büttiker and bassist Simon Iten have been playing together with Gisela Horat. In its programme, the trio tells musical stories written by life in all its shades. Based on musical sketches and composed songs by the pianist, exciting encounters arise between composition and improvisation, which are shaped by the different worlds of experience of the individual musicians. With sound-painting jazzy harmonies they describe colourful and exciting incidents, dreams, feelings and destinies in a lyrical groovy way. The trio has now released its fourth CD.
Besides the influences of Eric Satie, Bill Evans, Enrico Pieranunzi, Esbjörn Svensson, The Necks and Sylvie Courvoisier, the pianist's classical background is unmistakable. This lends a harmonic framework to her lyrical sound-painting and thus also appeals to an audience that does not usually find access to jazz.
