Aleksandra Panasik - OBOElectronics (2023)

Aleksandra Panasik‘s recordings for oboe and electronics are a truly remarkable achievement. Her expressive sound, phenomenal energy and dedication are a pleasure to witness in these stunning recordings of superb compositions.

Aleksandra graduated from the oboe class at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, in 2021, she received a doctorate in music performance from the same institution. She complemented her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart and then at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, with Prof. Christian Hommel, an oboist of the renowned Ensemble Modern. Aleksandra participated in the International Ensemble Modern Academy summer course in 2019. Two years later, she was invited by Peter Veale, oboist of the celebrated Ensemble Musikfabrik, to participate in a course in interpretation and performance of contemporary music. She also took part in Darmstädter Ferienkurse, where she received a scholarship for the participation. Additionally, she went to masterclasses given by several leading virtuosos such as Washington Barella, Jérôme Guichard, Diethelm Jonas, Tomasz Miczka, Fabien Thouand, David Walter, Henry Ward, Gregor Witt.

Classical contemporary music is Aleksandra’s main area of interest. She has collaborated with a number of internationally recognised composers, including Katarzyna Arnhold (EU), Sungji Hong (USA), Ana Lara (Mexico), Maria Lord-Kniveton (USA), Iris Szeghy (EU), Mark Andre (EU), Piotr Grella-Możejko (Canada), Aleksandra Bilińska (EU), Michał Janocha (EU), Katarzyna Taborowska (EU), Stefano Pierini (EU), Gwyn Pritchard (UK), Jack Vees (EU), and others.

Aleksandra has made recordings of new compositions for oboe and electronics, an area to which she devotes much of her professional activities and research. In collaboration with pianist Magdalena Ochlik-Jankowska, she recorded an album in 2019 with pieces for oboe by Eugène Bozza (selections available on YouTube). The album features world premiere recordings of several titles from the composer’s Graphismes and Quatorze études sur des modes karnatiques pour hautbois.

She recorded an album OBOElectronics with new works of various composers for oboe and electronics. All compositions besides one were written expreslly for this album.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Aleksandra has given performances in Austria, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland during the following concert cycles and festivals: the Eurorchestries, Idealistic Festival, Klangspuren Schwaz, Music at Uphagen, Neoarte Festival, New Music in the Old Town Hall, New Waves Festival, Nikodemowicz – Time and Sound, to mention just a few. A sought-after orchestral musician, Alexandra has collaborated with the Baltic Philharmonic, the Szczecin Philharmonic, the Łomża Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonia Baltica, and the Słupsk Sinfonietta. As well, she participated in various award-winning orchestral recording projects including Kilar: Exodus, Angelus, Victoria (The Fryderyk Prize 2014) and C.P.E. Bach-Haydn-Beethoven, the latter with the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk under the baton of Maestro Sigiswald Kuijken.
