Le premier album de Frank Sinatra sur son propre label, Reprise, qu’il revendra en 1963 à la firme Warner Bros. Les exégètes du chanteur le considèrent comme l’un de ses meilleurs disques. Il s’agit de l’unique collaboration avec l’arrangeur et auteur compositeur Johnny Mandel, ex-tromboniste vedette du Big Band de Count Basie. Il reste célèbre pour la non inclusion d’une chanson dont on n’a jamais su pendant trente ans si elle avait vraiment existé, « Zing ! Went The Strings Of My Heart », effectivement chantée par Sinatra lors des séances, en décembre 1960, et enfin exhumée en 1990.
