The birth of an overwhelming masterpiece in which every note has life and sings of death and rebirth. As one of Mahler's masterpieces, the 5th symphony is one of the most popular of his works. This work was composed between 1901 and 1902 and premiered in Cologne in 1904, during Mahler's heyday in his early 40s.
