Leonardo Barbierato's aptitude for experimentation and artistic research immediately led him to explore different unconventional musical styles. Improvisation, interaction, mixtures of electronic and acoustic sounds, polyrhythmic explorations, inter-disciplinary incursions between nature, mathematics and music are common characteristics of his music.
This artistic project explores the complexity of the human-environment relationship. The strong ecological crisis of our times, the tension and anxiety that derive from it are highly inspiring. Patterns for Transcendence contains eight photographs with urban/artificial and natural elements are the score of their musical compositions, with the use of synthetic/electronic and acoustic sound elements. The visual patterns of the photos are found in the music at different levels, from thematic to improvisational.
These geometries can be forced but never broken, precisely because man will never be able to completely free himself from nature, for this reason the patterns represent the contemporary idiosyncrasy of two aspects: the inclination to transcend typical of the human being and the bond that it keeps us anchored to the world where we belong.
