Accomplished multi-genre composer Gary Smart explores a wide range of musical styles and condenses them into his own recognizable tonal language on Colombian Harmony. At times polytonal, at times reduced, almost threadbare, but always precise, Smart’s works meander between grand rhapsody and meticulous design. His soundscapes are sweeping, billowing meadows, often vast in their scope and ambition. There is enough familiarity to keep the listener anchored, but the element of surprise reigns supreme.
