John "JT" Thompson grew up in central Pennsylvania, but soon found himself in Louisiana, absorbing bayou culture and playing the Blues in the swamp music dens of Cajun country, the cowboy bars of Texas, and the juke joints of Mississippi. After a Biloxi hurricane, JT headed to Atlanta, where he continued working up and down the East coast until a mid-life crisis caused him to quit the road, cut his hair, get a real job, and go back to college. He also joined The Atlanta Heat Blues Revue, backing up Lotsa Poppa (400 Lbs of Soul) touring the Southeast and appearing regularly at Atlanta Blues clubs. Armed with a degree from Georgia State, JT returned to Pennsylvania, where his Blues & Boogie piano playing has made him a fixture on the central PA music scene. In addition to appearing weekly with State College icons The Triple A Blues Band and Maxwell Strait, JT plays solo, fronts his own group The Denicats, and also performs regularly Natascha and the Spy Boys.

Thompson was a Top 8 Finalist at the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, where he represented the Billtown Blues Association (winner of the 2011 Keeping The Blues Alive Award for Blues Organization) in the Solo/Duo category. He’s a Jamarama host on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, and his solo CD “Chase Away Your Blues” has received international airplay and garnered praise from publications like Blues Revue and PA Musician, extending his popularity throughout the Blues world.

Thompson's 12-song CD "This Way That Way" debuted in July 2012, and showcases guest appearances by PURE CANE SUGAR, the ZEROPOINT HORNS, and NYC blues guitarist DAVE FIELDS.
