The third album from the Nashville-based, Louisiana-born Frank Foster, 2013's Southern Soul features more of his swaggering, outlaw country and Southern rock-influenced music. An independent release, Southern Soul showcases Foster's love of such maverick country artists as Hank Williams, Jr., Waylon Jennings, and Steve Earle. The album follows up his similarly earthy and confident 2012 album, Red Wings and Six Strings. Included on Southern Soul is the single "Backwoods Baby Doll."
