Swing de Paris - La Vida Con Swing (2023)

The band "Swing de Paris" consists of the Winterthur violinist Sophie Lüssi, the two Lucerne musicians Felix Brühwiler (guitar) and Claudio Strebel (double bass) and the Glarus native David Beglinger (drums and vocals).

The quartet was founded in 2005. At the beginning the band played almost exclusively Gypsy Jazz (e.g. by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli). Over the years the group became more and more open to other styles. Newly discovered gems from the heyday of the American swing era as well as original compositions are now in the foreground.

The repertoire is varied and contrasting: unison passages, slap double bass, sung ballads, swing, tango, waltz, up tempo. In many pieces, "Swing de Paris" sounds almost like a quintet because the drummer and singer David Beglinger drums and sings at the same time in a confident manner.

Due to the countless performances, the four band members are very attuned to each other. They sound homogeneous, like a single instrument, and are always trying new things.

"Swing de Paris" has already released several recordings (Douce Ambiance, Au Lac, The Song Collection, La Vida Con Swing) as well as some live recordings from concerts. Her music plays regularly on Radio Swiss Jazz.
