Camera - Ashes and Dim Light (2006)

As Welsh bands go, Camera are certainly one of the best. There's an intricacy and a delicacy to this music that leaves their peers in the shade. The vocals can be spellbinding, bolstered by a guitar that weaves through the melodies like a snake. Things start well, but it's the second half of the album that truly delivers, culminating in the gorgeous 'tell me what it is'. So who should buy this album? Fans of early REM for one. Fans of Jeff Buckley for two, but ultimately, anyone with a fondness for electric song-based music. As a first album this a marvelously mature piece of work.~A. Stevenson
