A star-studded set from one of música mexicana’s biggest bosses. The breadth and depth of the contemporary corridos sound wouldn’t be quite so rich were it not for Luis R Conriquez. His work as a songwriter for other música mexicana artists as well as himself stands out in a big way, and his Corridos Bélicos series in particular faithfully provides volume after volume of resonant material. This fourth installment is, by far, his most collaborative effort to date, boasting songs with numerous current artists in the genre’s vanguard, including El Fantasma, Fuerza Regida, and Junior H. From the raw and ruthless “Pixelados” with Peso Pluma to the rousingly romantic “Mi Bello Ángel” opposite corridos tumbados pioneer Natanael Cano, these nearly two dozen tracks capture the moment perfectly.
