OkoŃski - Trio Session Demos (2024) [Hi-Res]

Okonski is proud to present 'Trio Session Demos' - the exploration of the sonic space that ended up leading to their debut LP 'Magnolia'. "This first session with the trio was really exploring what was comfortable to us - more in the soul instrumental space," Steve Okonski explains. Driving bass, drum breaks, and rich harmonic ideas all contribute to this initial session. The plan was to stick to what they knew: record drums, bass, and piano live and then add overdubs, laying organ, electric piano, guitar, glockenspiel and percussion. But on that last evening of this inceptive assembly, the track 'Sunday' was unexpectedly improvised and became the new blueprint for the remainder of 'Magnolia'

"Recording these first tracks was incredibly fun and I love how they came out, but it was the end of this session that led us to get out of our comfort zone a bit and explore more of the sounds that 'Magnolia' would eventually come from," Steve says. We are proud to share these initial demos, and to give insight into the experimentation and process that led to 'Magnolia'.
