As well as being Project SMOK’s long awaited Debut Album, ‘Bayview’ is a collaboration and merging of genres not yet seen before.
After being invited by Edwyn Collins to record at his idyllic and custom-built studio in Helmsdale, the band knew before recording a note that this was an opportunity not to be missed and a privilege unlike any other.
Incorporating explosive and unorthodox levels of innovation and virtuosity whilst also encompassing a more sensitive and time-honoured theme throughout.
Featuring an intimidatingly talented list of guest musicians also, such as Mohsen Amini, Megan Henderson, Rona Lightfoot, Benedict Morris and John Mulhearn, to name but a few. Project SMOK showcase their natural ability to fuse effortlessly with any musician, regardless of genre, style or background.
Music icon Edwyn Collins and his wife Grace Maxwell were integral in the making of ‘Bayview’ and it is down to their input and immense generosity that this Album was made possible. Recording through an all vintage analogue system, ‘Bayview’ is unapologetically honest and true and with Mike Vass as Producer behind their Debut Album, he also brought a wealth of experience and subtlety in taste which is evident throughout.
It is easy to forget that ‘Bayview’ is the first feature length Album for Project SMOK with how high they have set the bar here. A bold Debut from a band already firmly established in their field.
