Carles Cases - Música per a Ventura Pons (2024) [Hi-Res]

Next January 26, Música per À Ventura Pons is published, a disc that compiles sixteen original versions of the soundtracks for films that Carles Cases composed for Ventura Pons between 1991 and 2011. Of the thirty-three films that the filmmaker directed, Carles Cases composed the music for sixteen films, a practically unique case. This album summarizes these twenty years.

His extensive musical legacy includes seventy soundtracks, fifty published albums and almost three thousand concerts. Carles Cases is currently immersed in composing and recording his own productions, combining it with performing concerts of his works, whether in solo piano, duo, trio, quartet or orchestra format. In 2021 he released Minimal, his first minimalist work, and in 2023 Paris-Casablanca-New York was released, a journey through his own themes, essentially soundtracks, with music inspired by the countries where he has been and worked. In the 1980s he was dedicated exclusively to the musical direction of singer- songwriter Lluís Llach, both in album recordings and in live performances, performing up to 800 concerts. The Charles Cross Academy (Paris) awarded him the first prize for best album for T'estimo by Lluís Llach. In 2014, together with Pere Casaldàliga and after living with the bishop in his town in Brazil, they released the album Araguaia, with poems by Casaldàliga and music by Cases. This work was awarded Enderrock magazine's award for best classical album. Twenty-five years dedicated to composing and producing soundtracks for films, both European and American. He was a regular composer for films by directors such as Gonzalo Suárez, Ventura Pons, Jaime Balagueró, Eduardo Rossoff, Jaime Chávarri and Stuart Gordon. This 2023, Carles Cases has been awarded the Honor Award from the Catalunya Clam International Social Film Festival for his career.
