She has been active on the Danish (Aarhusian) jazz scene for many years. Both as a performer with several releases and many concerts behind him, as a teacher and as an organizer. She has just received an award for the latter. This year's concert experience at DMA Jazz a little over a month ago. It was for Bazarjazz, which she does in the Aarhus suburb of Gellerup.

She started the new album in 2020, when she again had the opportunity to travel to the Iranian capital Tehran for the first time in many years. Her father is from Iran and her mother is from West Jutland. In Tehran, she wrote My Life, My Country, which is dedicated to the young people of Iran who are characterized by hopelessness. It is undoubtedly the most personal album that Camilla Dayyani has made. She lets the two cultures she grew up in meet with jazz, Iranian music and classical chamber music. This means, among other things, that you hear three different ensembles, a jazz trio with Fredrik Lundin, Artur Tuznik and Thomas Sejthen, an Iranian duo with Nazanin Ranjpour and Mohammad Ali Mearti and the strings Arto String Quartet.

The texts are by Persian poets, especially Khayyam, and Danish by Piet Hein and Karen Blixen. The language is both Danish, Persian and a little English. It sounds like a lot and Camilla Dayyani masters it without any problems. There is a flow and a story in the record. There is the pride and respect for the thousand-year-old Persian culture coupled with a present day where it is difficult for many Iranians. She effects the link to Danish culture with great elegance. Join us on a musical journey you won't soon forget.
