Remember, two years ago, when Mad Foxes burst onto the scene with their previous album called Ashamed. The garage trio from Nantes won the votes with their absolutely authentic style which allowed them to carve out a comfortable place in the French-speaking indie landscape, so much so that they were able to play with KEXP and Jimmy Fallon. Classy, right? Two and a half years later, the group hits even harder with Inner Battles.

Considered a more serious album, Mad Foxes pulls out all the stops from the start with “The Other Hand”. We feel that the Nantes trio is taking a more post-punk and noisier turn than ever thanks to this more energetic rhythm section and more nervous melodies which take effect when listening to “Cold Water Swim” and “YNBF” which follow with this aspect, more cathartic than ever, is its strength.

It's impossible not to think of FACS or METZ during the gothic atmospheres that reign on "Hurricanes" or even on "Flashes" without forgetting the permanent tension on "Sudden" intelligently split into two parts. Mad Foxes feels the need to express its most chaotic and visceral feelings before driving the point home with “White Gloves” and “Ages” where the penetrating interpretation continues to have its effect. Heavier than ever, the trio from Nantes succeeds in exorcising their ills through this resolutely fiery new album.
