Sandman's Calling - Bern (2024)

The music of Sandman’s Calling is inspired by both “tribal music” and jazz. Driving grooves, melancholic melodies, unexpected sounds and free improvisation combine with influences from music from the Maghreb region and the Middle East. Is this jazz, world music or something else? The three artists use their music to draw sand mandalas that can transform into all shapes with the wind of improvisation. Julian Sartorius is a guest on the new record “BERN” (Feb. 2024). In the summer of 2023, Sandman's Calling invited Julian Sartorius to record an album together. The album was initially supposed to be called Burn and a surprising discussion about the capital of Switzerland followed - voilà: “Bern” was the new title of the album, which contains 7 pieces and 7 improvisations. “Sibe mal sibe” is known to produce fine dust and exciting sand mandalas.
