Sole - Elos (2024) [Hi-Res]

From Bratislava to the world: the quintet around singer Julia Kozakova is made up of renowned musicians who are well-known in their home country and some of whom have won several awards. Inspired by traditional songs from many countries, Sole add new elements and timbres to them and brush them convincingly against the grain. "Elos" impresses with original arrangements of traditional folk songs. Julia Kozakova sings in Romanian, Bukharian, Spanish, Swedish and Slovakian, and the Romanian and Balkan tradition is of course not neglected here.

Vocals, piano, accordion, bass and percussion combine harmoniously to create a lively musical dialog. "Elos" is not only the written reflection of the band's name - each of the songs is accompanied by excerpts of lyrics translated into English and additional information in the extensive and lovingly designed CD booklet, which together represent a poem entitled "Elos". An impressive and versatile debut album in which the passion and experience of the musicians speaks from every bar and note.
