Paisley is located west of Glasgow and is known for its historic abbey. Here, the Abbey Choir performs a program of Scottish cathedral music under the direction of George McPhee, who has led the choir since 1964. Among the composers recorded here are James McMillan, Martin Dolby, Robert Johnson, Edward McGuire and George McPhee himself.
This CD is intended to offer samples of sacred music by Scottish composers from two particularly fruitful periods in Scotland's musical history - the Renaissance and the present day.
