Band of Gnaoua traditional music

The Gnawa style is a mystical music style that was gradually brought to Morocco by African residents south of the Sahara and has become part of the Moroccan tradition over the years. The music is characterized by rhythmic repetition and call-and-response singing, which brings about a state of "trance."

Originally from Essaouira, Abdelmalek El Kadiri, 37, began his artistic career in 2000. He was taught by many maâlems such as Maâlem Abdallah Guinea, Maâlem Abderrahman Paco, Maâlem Cherif Regragui and others. He won the first prize at the Festival.
