Mo Kolours - Original Flow: Chapter Two (2024)

Now based in the Japanese countryside, Joseph Deenmamode aka Mo Kolours reconnects with his roots on 'Original Flow: Chapter Two', welding street soul, jazz fusion, dub, broken beat and jazz into a world-traveling celebration of percussive music. Born to Mauritian and English parents, Deenmamode has always been surrounded by a patchwork of different cultures, something that's only been amplified in Japan. He relocated five years ago, and since then has been figuring out his deep connection to rhythmic music, dubbing sessions, improvisations and soundbites from close friends and collaborators. Deenmamode wanted to create an archive of his own samples to root the two 'Original Flow' albums, "to find that perfect loop no other producer could put their hands on". And he manages to straddle complicated territory well, folding philosophical themes into tracks that dissolve dub into electrified jazz, and broken beat into Cuban folk music. He's a keen, attentive listener, and his time in Japan seems to have sharpened his ear, bringing a heartfelt connection to the music that's palpable throughout.
