"The Barbary Ghost has been haunting the San Francisco Bay area for nearly three decades. They started as a homeless club kid in the local Goth scene in the late 90s and quickly became a DJ in 2001. In 2002, they started running their own Deathrock and Post-Punk events. In 2004, they took the leap from club promotion, to website curation by founding the music community post-punk.com. In that same year, The Barbary Ghost started their first live music project, a solo experimental affair called Vernian Process, which became one of the pioneering bands in the burgeoning Steampunk music community. They took influence from the fiction of authors like Jules Verne and HG Wells and combined it with darkwave, minimal synth, post-punk and other styles. In 2008, Vernian Process became a full live band and toured briefly for a few years.
Around 2012, The Barbary Ghost realized they had taken on too many projects and had to end their association with post-punk.com, the website they had spent nearly a decade curating. Ironically, this loss did not slow them down. Instead, they started yet another music project called Profondo Delle Tenebre, as an outlet for their more horror-themed material. This project is currently their most active one, but in 2018, they began recording even more music and remixes under the name of The Barbary Ghost.
The biggest evolution for this artist came in 2020 when they first dabbled in music production for other artists. Now, "The Barbary Ghost Productions" is beyond proud to release their first album and the latest album by one of the first artists that ever graced their review desk way back in 2004, Mortal Boy. This album was more than a simple contract though. The two artists worked closely through the entire recording process to refine and fine-tune the magnum opus that is "The Carbon Orchestra".
