Cserepes Remix - Pink (2023)

This album is the last piece of my "remix" series. With the "remix" method, my goal was to show some great old Hungarian folklore singers to a wider, non-professional audience in archival origins, yet in a novel sound environment. I believe that these archival recordings can most authentically represent the style and spirit of Hungarian folk songs. Another part of my concept is to always relate our folk songs to some distant, foreign musical elements (traditional and electronic samples). The aim of such alienating orchestration is to help the listener maintain a certain distance, and we professionals can look at what is so close to our hearts with less bias. The Hungarian folk songs presented here, as well as the blues and jazz samples and recordings used as arrangements in this case, were created around the same time, 60-70 years ago.
