From Texas through a round of paying dues around Music Row and on into the studio with some of Nashville's crack session players, the route taken by the Marie Sisters has been trudged a thousand times. It's not surprising, then, that their sound is professional and polished, and also predictable. With the backup crew playing tight to the point of immobility, the sisters adhere to prevalent conventions of emotive solo singing on the verses and closed-eyed, punchy harmony on the choruses. There's actually nothing wrong with Marie Sisters - which, of course, is exactly what's wrong with it.
