Anthony D'Alessandro - Searchin' (2024)

Searchin’, is my debut full length album featuring New York City based trumpet and vocal star Benny Benack III. I filled out the rhythm section with two of Canada’s greatest musicians of their respective generations, the celebrated Neil Swainson on bass, and JUNO-award winning Ernesto Cervini on drums. From my own generation, Canada’s vocal jazz star Caity Gyorgy also appears as a special guest in a duet with Benack.

This album features five of my original compositions each inspired by a different facet of my musical tastes. From the laid-back Calypso groove of Tune for Monty to the hard-hitting New York swing of Outbreak, or the delicate jazz waltz feel on Wonder, these compositions span a diverse selection from my musical palette. The album features two vocal numbers including my own re-interpretation of the classic Gershwin ballad, Someone to Watch Over Me featuring the warm vocals of Benack, and a vocal duet filled with scatting, trading and playful improvisations between Caity Gyorgy and Benack on East of the Sun.
