Hailing from a distinguished Cuban musical family, Chila Lynn was scouted by EMI when she was studying classical piano in Paris. It is easy to see why a major label was so interested in the 19-year-old pianist, singer, and songwriter. Rather than your archetypical Cuban musician, Lynn comes across as a young neo-R&B/soul female singer and instrumentalist of considerable talent, who sings in English, and who also has a sophisticated multicultural appeal - in other words, EMI is aiming for the next Esperanza Spalding/Alicia Keys/Amy Winehouse, or better still, a combination of the three. Her debut album, a lavish collection of contemporary R&B, was produced by Adrian Schinoff and features material penned by the likes of P!nk, James Morrison, and Jamie Scott - Lynn's own songs will have to wait for the next one. Real Woman includes the single "When Love...."
