The Borodin Quartet was founded in Moscow following World War II and to this day remains the most famous string quartet in Russia. Over its history it has featured many of the most brilliant performers in the Soviet Union/Russia, and this recording includes brilliant cello performances by the master Mstislav Rostropovich. Originally recorded for and released on the USSR state-owned Melodiya in the 1960s, this album of Tchaikovsky's most beloved string works is presented for the first time ever on budget CD.
