Nicki Parrott, now a world-famous double bassist and vocalist, was born in Newcastle, Australia. She began her musical training on the piano at the age of four. She also studied the flute and continued to play it throughout her school years. At the age of 15, Niki switched her attention to bass, created a group with her older sister Lisa (alto saxophone) and began composing instrumental pieces.
