Two-time Grammy Award winner, “The Godfather of Soul” James Brown, has over 100 charted hits to his name. Born 3rd May 1933 in South Carolina, Browngrew up through poverty. After joining the Gospel Starlighters in 1953, later to be known as the Famous Flames, Brown finds success with the groups first single, ‘Please Please Please’. In 1958, James Brown’s first No.1 hit, ‘Try Me’, was released. The track became the best selling single of it’s year and was the first of 17 chart topping R&B singles by Brown.
