After far too long an absence, the master of Macedonia midnights returns with a heady batch of smoky tracks that once again celebrate the eternal love affair between jazz and hip hop. Brimming with blunted loops and silky vibes, this collection recalls chillout lounges and the classic hednods of yore, but reappointed in the slick satin, urban feel of the new cool. But not to be pigeonholed, Nycto further flavors with pot with a final trio of tunes crafted for the dance floor with the rapid funk of “Takin’ It Back”, the chilled out, late-night house grooves of “I Don’t Know”, and the closing big beat stomp of “1984”.
