Vesta Williams - Vesta (1986)

The debut album from Vesta Williams, a singer with a hell of a voice on the right numbers -- maybe a lot more range than some of her 80s soul contemporaries! The vibe here is maybe best on the mellower numbers, which really let Vesta stretch out -- but there's a nicely unified vibe to the set, thanks to work work from Bryan Loren, who co-produced most of the tracks with Billy Valentine -- and also plays much of the instrumentation behind the vocals. David Crawford also helped out on some of the record, and titles include "Don't Blow A Good Thing", "Sweet Thang", "Get Out Of My Life", "I Can Make Your Dreams Come True", "Something About You", "Don't Let Me Down", "It's You", and "You Make Me Want To Love Again".
