Scherrer got with seven years of Violinunterricht and taught itself the saxophone game with 15 years self-educated. He/it plays also further instruments, like piano and Hammond-Orgel, beside it. He/it played in disco bands at first before he/it studied in Basel at the conservatory with Ivan Roth (classic) saxophone. In the jazz, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson (him/it he/it 2003 a Hommage dedicated on the album "Serenity - tributes to Joe Henderson", Unit Records) count. Since 1972, he/it works as Freelance-Musiker in own groups, but also with the "Slide Hampton-Joe Haider orchestra", that "Hot Mallets" of Isla Eckinger, "Free Bop" of Billy Brooks, with Renato Anselmi and the Swiss volume "Magog" about Klaus Koenig and "Cojazz (as a pianist)." Since 1991, he/it is member of the "Vienna type Orchestra." He/it played among others with Gary Burton, Cedar whale sound Kirk Lightsey Benny Bailey Dexter Gordon Kenny Clarke, Curtis Fuller, Mel Lewis, Abdullah Ibrahim and Adam Taubitz. Beside appearances as a saxophonist with own quartet (with the pianist William Evans, Isla Eckinger at the bass and Dré Pallemaerts at the drums), he/it accompanies also singers at the piano. Besides the Joe-Henderson-Album, he/it picked up with his/its quartet also a (TCB) tribute album for time Waldron as well as ("Remember times Waldron", TCB) "Second Step." At the moment, the Quartet consists of Oliver Tabeling beside Andy Scherrer at the piano, Michael Chylewski at the bass as well as Markus Neuweiler at the drums.
