Uli Brodersen - Land Feet First (2011)

The electric guitar in a convertible, a scenario as life writes it. The German guitarist Uli Brodersen has everything a fusion guitarist needs, but unfortunately not more. He got stuck deep in the elevator jazz of the '80s. His music sounds like a relic that is not afraid of any cliché. Compared to this tasteless softening sound, the Californian Lee Ritenour's bores still look like fast-paced adventures. Brodersen suffices himself with virtuoso virtuosity. The whole album sounds as if it was ambitiously crafted after a manual "How to make a perfect fusion album". Everything seems to be in the right place, and yet the question arises: Where is Mr Brodersen? The guitarist's personality dissolves completely in antiquated euphony. The only thing that provokes here is the incomprehensible complacency that speaks from every single note. However, this is not one reason to get involved in Brodersen's lukewarm convertible trip.
