Prokofiev's Seventh Symphony was a kind of calling card of the conductor Nikolai Anosov, who, unfortunately, is still mostly known as the father of the famous Gennady Rozhdestvensky. Of course, it seems quite a big assumption to talk about a business card with such a small phonological heritage and rather modest information about Anosov's concert activities in general. However, this is perhaps the only work that he recorded twice: the very famous first recording with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra - and presented in this distribution with the GSO Orchestra. Yes, it is clear that it is quite difficult to compete with the Czech orchestra, and the sound quality of the early recording is paradoxically better, but even here Anosov offers an extraordinary and lively look at the score, full of ideas and inspiration. The bonus is an equally wonderful performance of Dvorak's New World Symphony.
